I get why they did it, Cubase is VST3 compatible and 99% of the other software on OSX that does VST also does AU.
We're lucky to use Live, Cubase and Logic are VST and AU only respectively, it's a non issue which is great because there are a few cool tiny AU plug in makers and a few VST only plug ins out there as well. fxp so it would be compatible with PC VST etc. It's a total non issue in LIve anyway, and even though it uses AU it stores the patches you make in. Since until recently my other DAW Digital Performer used AU only I mostly use AU, except for with VST plug ins that send MIDI like Geist etc. Machinesworking wrote:Cakewalk went right to VST 3 with their 64 bit version of this plug in, there's your issue. You can use the AU version no problem, but with VST plugin they are having issues at the moment. But even then the VST plugin would not be installed. I've already contacted Cakewalk and they first told me to try to set the date on my Mac back to 2012, so that the installer does not complain about the expired certificate. Interesting, I am having other issues exactly with the VST plugin. So, Machinesworking, how did your install go?
I submitted a support request and I am waiting to hear back. So then I uninstalled it thinking I could reinstall and make sure it installed into my vst folder (which happens to be program file>vsts) Anyway, now the serial number is invalid, wtf! Then I cut and pasted it back where it was and it started up stand alone, but no sound, wth? Not that I want it as a stand alone anyway.
This made it show up in Ableton, but it wouldn't load, all kinds of images were missing. I tried cutting and pasting the folder into my vst folder. I should have paid closer attn during the install so it would install into that folder, my bad. This seemed like a good deal so I got it, but I'm having issues with it.Īfter installing it, I opened Ableton and it was not in my vst folder.
